Mario had just opened his Mexican Grocery and Deli but hadn’t even had a sign up when he started business. Ramon was hungry and wanted to try the tacos while working nearby, and he was blown away by the quality. Ramon says he would know because he’s spent more years than he cares to count with Mexican taco chefs. These tacos were no joke. He was so excited he started telling everyone in the neighborhood to get tacos and being that it is the Little Caribbean of Brooklyn, people seriously had no idea what a taco was. Ramon said he was floored and we needed to help this guy to get this great food out to the community that doesn’t know what it is.
We wanted to give them something special and hand-done, so to save money on the budget, Ramon spent two days sanding the old laundromat sign. We painted the sign up for them on the corner, duplicated on both sides, featuring their prominent menu items. The bold and colorful mural captured the spirit of the local Mexican grocery and deli and helped to attract attention from passersby. It was a great way to showcase the business and help Mario build his brand in the community.
